Math 31E: Calculus for Economics Students

Math 31E is a second-quarter calculus course that is designed for students of economics. The first half of 31E provides an abbreviated treatment of integration, while the second half provides an introduction to multivariable differential calculus with applications to optimization problems.

Several years ago the Economics Department sought to upgrade the mathematics training required of its majors. The result was that the course 31E was introduced in the academic year 1994-95 as a replacement for 3E, and the Economics Department has replaced its 3A-3E calculus requirement for its majors by 31A-31E.

The course 31E is offered only Winter and Spring Quarters, with one section offered each Quarter.
