Culler, Chief Scientist and chairman of the Board(retired), Culler Scientific Systems Corporation, for pioneering innovations in multiple branches of computing, including early efforts in digital speech processing, invention of the first on-line system for interactive graphical mathematics computing and pioneering work on the ARPAnet. - Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers:Ken Ono, the Louis A. Martarano professor of mathematics at Penn State has been selected for the
(PECASE)--the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. Government on scientists and engineers beginning their independent careers. Ono earned a doctoral degree in mathematics at UCLA in 1993. For more details see the Press Release.
