in real and complex geometry

J.-M. Bismut is a professor in Université Paris-Sud, France. He started his career in probability, changed to geometric analysis in the mid 80s. He has proved many fundamental formulas about Ray-Singer torsions and Quillen metrics which have important applications in arithmetic geometry and string theory.
