Common problems when printing a PostScript file

Symptom:
When printing a PostScript file, only a banner page is printed.

Possible Causes:
  1. Check to see if your PostScript files end with a command "showpage". Some software produces Postscript files without a "showpage" command at the end of the file because the file is meant to be included in another document. The printer won't print anything without the "showpage" command. By adding "showpage" at the end of the file, the page should come out.
  2. Try other PostScript printers. Different PostScript printers have different versions of PostScript interpreters and one printer may behave better than others in some circumstances.
  3. Edit the first line of your PostScript file. It should contain only "%!". Remove all the version information after "%!". Some older PostScript printers can't handle newer versions of PostScript files. No warning messages are printed; your document is just ignored.
