a timely manner.

Maintain privacy and integrity of data in the department by quashing
active computer virus infections and repelling intruders.

Ensure proper operation of department network backbone. Identify
and repair problems. Identify and report PSnet problems promptly.

Ensure proper operation of instructional labs, both for grads and
undergrads.

Ensure proper operation and stability of the department's main computer
resources, including E-mail, on-line databases, and the web server.

Ensure that user and system data is properly backed up, and that
it can be recovered in the event of disaster.

Ensure proper operation of faculty and staff office computers. Resolve
hardware and software problems as required.

Provide direct support and consulting services to the user community
during designated hours through the department helpdesk.

Develop system and applications software for use in instruction,
administration, research, security and systems.

Consult with users regarding planned hardware and software purchases.

Restore files which were accidentally deleted in the past 24 hours.

Assist users with personally owned machines.
